Post-Tribune News Report: 5 Lake County Nursing Homes Continue to Fail

The Gary Post-Tribune has reported that five Indiana nursing homes located in Lake County have rated poorly, despite participation in a new program aimed to improve care and safety in long-term care facilities.  The facilities referenced in the news report are: Northlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Sebo’s, and Dyer Nursing.  The article discusses the troubled past of these facilities:

Some have been cited by both state and federal survey agencies.

Sebo’s and Dyer Nursing are owned by Eric Rothner, whose homes in several states have faced growing scrutiny.

Earlier this year, Rothner’s Northlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Merrillville made the federal government’s list of worst-performing nursing homes in the country. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Indiana State Department of Health closed Northlake. Sebo’s could face termination.

Rothner did not return requests for comment, but in an earlier interview he blamed state surveyors for picking on him.
