Claudio Perez

About Claudio Perez

Claudio is a dedicated advocate with a heart for service and justice. A Nicaraguan-American born and raised in Miami, Florida, Claudio moved to Indiana in 2010 to pursue graduate studies at the University of Notre Dame. While earning his master’s degree in theology, he also mentored at-risk youth through Reading for Life and volunteered in various community initiatives throughout South Bend.

Driven by a deep desire to support others through challenging times, Claudio went on to work in public service roles in Bloomington, Indiana, including as a case manager for the Department of Child Services and as an investigator for Adult Protective Services. In 2017, he enrolled at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where he deepened his commitment to advocacy.

After graduating in 2020, Claudio launched his legal career as a public defender in Marion County. For nearly four years, he represented indigent parents in cases involving the Indiana Department of Child Services, gaining extensive experience in high-stakes, emotionally complex litigation.

In 2024, Claudio transitioned to civil litigation, focusing on personal injury law and serving both English- and Spanish-speaking clients. In 2025, he joined Powless Law Firm, where he channels his Christian faith and strong sense of justice into helping individuals harmed by negligent healthcare providers.

Claudio currently serves on the board of Reach for Youth, a nonprofit organization that offers mental health support and second chances to at-risk youth.

He lives in Franklin Township with his wife, Kathleen, and their children. Together, they enjoy exploring the outdoors and sharing a love of literature.
