Multiple news sources have reported that employees of the Waters of Scottsburg nursing home are under investigation after inappropriate photos of a patient were allegedly posted on social media internet sites. According to news reports, the matter has been turned over to the local prosecutor who will determine whether criminal charges will be filed. This report is the latest in a string of troubling reports this year concerning Indiana nursing homes. It was reported earlier this year that authorities were investigating a massive identity theft ring which apparently had a nursing home in Greenfield at the center of the investigation. According to the reports, there are more than 100 identities stolen and more than $100,000.
Before that, it was reported that a certified nursing aide at Providence Home Health Care in Jasper, Indiana had been charged with sexual battery, battery with injury, and intimidation based upon allegations that while an employee of this nursing home, the nursing aide performed sexual acts with a patient, and then threatened the patient if he told anyone about it. The Court documents also state that this nursing home employee performed “lewd acts” in front of fellow employees. According to the report, the victim stated he was hurt while he was restrained.
